How to Check If Your GHOST, RYSE or CBum Supplement Is Original: A Guide for India

When you spend ₹6,000 to ₹15,000 on a tub of GHOST Whey, RYSE Godzilla or CBum Itholate, you expect exactly what the brand made. The problem is that premium imported supplements are also the ones most worth faking. The higher the price and the stronger the hype, the more attractive a brand becomes to counterfeiters and grey-market sellers.

This guide walks you through the checks we use ourselves, so you can buy with confidence wherever you shop.

1. Check the importer sticker and FSSAI details

Supplements sold in India are regulated as food products by FSSAI. An imported product sold through proper channels should carry the Indian importer's name and address along with the FSSAI logo and licence number, usually on a sticker or printed panel. If a tub of an American brand has no Indian importer details at all, ask the seller where it came from before you buy.

2. Look at the seal, both outside and under the lid

Genuine tubs arrive sealed. Check that any outer seal or shrink-wrap is intact, then look under the lid for the inner seal over the powder. A missing, loose, torn or re-glued inner seal is a reason to stop and contact the seller before using the product.

3. Check the batch number and best-before date

Every genuine tub carries a batch or lot number and a best-before date, printed clearly and consistently. Smudged, missing or sticker-covered dates are a red flag, as are dates that don't match between the tub and its outer packaging. Always check that the product is comfortably within its best-before date.

4. Compare the print and packaging quality

Pull up the product on the brand's official website and compare it with the tub in your hand. Look at the logo, fonts, colours, label alignment and spelling. Counterfeits often give themselves away with blurry printing, faded colours, spelling mistakes or a label that sits slightly crooked.

5. Use the brand's verification code if there is one

Some brands add a scratch code or QR code for authentication. If your product has one, scan it and make sure the link opens on the brand's official website, not a lookalike address. A code that sends you to an unfamiliar site proves nothing.

6. Be wary of prices that are too good to be true

Premium imported supplements carry real costs: import duties, freight and proper storage. A price far below what reputable stores charge usually means something has been cut, whether that's the product, the storage conditions or the expiry date.

7. Trust your senses when you open it

Genuine powders mix consistently and taste the way the brand describes. Unusual smells, hard clumps, an odd colour, or a texture that is very different from your last tub of the same product are all reasons to stop using it and contact the seller.

8. Buy from a seller who stands behind the product
